I work with individuals, couples, and families depending on the nature of my client's needs, goals, and contexts.
Except for information that you give me permission to release to others or information that I am required by the ethics of my profession or by law to release to others in the rare event that I may need to protect your safety or the safety of another person, I will keep what you tell me confidential.
If you haven't already completed intake forms, you will do that first. Then we'll review them so we can talk about anything that needs more discussion. My goal is to start understanding the concerns that bring you to therapy as well as your background and personal history. I also want to learn about what you hope to get out of therapy. You can share as much or as little detail as feels comfortable for you.
Counseling can be described as a process by which distress is relieved. While consulting is an opportunity to receive guidance regarding a specific problem from a professional who has expertise in that area.
I do not currently accept insurance. I can, if you wish, provide you with a bill that you can submit to your insurance company to see if they will reimburse you for out-of-network services.
I don't accept insurance for several reasons. Not accepting insurance:
My approach to counseling and consulting is holistic, respectful, and collaborative. I appreciate that it can be difficult to reach out for help. I understand that there is no one-size-fits-all solutions for the problems that people face because every person--and their context--is unique.
I strive to help my clients make informed decisions about a variety of treatment options. I consult with, refer to, and collaborate with other care providers to better meet my clients' needs.
I believe that the ability to learn, grow, and heal is an inherent human characteristic. I have found that when people have a safe haven in which to openly share what they are going through, they can more easily find ways to move toward greater well being.
My fees vary depending on the type of service I provide, such as individual, couples, or group counseling; individual consultation; lactation consulting; speaking and other forms of training; and professional consultation.
